Acne Treatments
Acne can manifest as pimples or sometimes larger nodules or cysts, and generally surfaces on the face, neck, back, shoulders, chest, and arms. While acne is prevalent in adolescents, it is also common among many adults. If left untreated, acne can cause significant scarring and other cosmetic concerns.
The most common form of acne is called acne vulgaris and is characterized by inflammatory lesions (pimples) that develop when sebaceous glands become obstructed and there is an abnormal proliferation of propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes bacteria).
Until recently, patients with persistent, moderate acne have been treated with skin care regimens consisting only of topical or systemic antibiotics. Recent studies have demonstrated however that medical therapy can effectively trigger endogenic porphyrins that naturally destroy P. acnes bacteria, and in just a fraction of the time it typically takes for antibiotics to work.
INTENSIVE ACNE TREATMENT
This intense purification includes medical microdermabrasion and a deep pore cleansing to normalize the skin and reduce bacteria.
TEEN CLEAN
This facial is designed for the teen who needs a deep cleanse, exfoliation and antibacterial treatment. Designed to minimize and treat breakouts.
PDT TREATMENT FOR SEVERE ACNE
PDT treatments are used for people who have resistant, severe, cystic acne. They can be used in many cases instead of resorting to Accutane therapy. This treatment uses a topical medication called Levulanic Acid which is applied to the skin and left on to incubate for a period of time determined by the doctor. Then the treated area is exposed to a special blue light. The Levulanic acid targets the sebaceous glands that produce the bacteria that causes cystic acne. This treatment has shown dramatic results in just one or two treatments.
